Workshops
As part of the RGS Action Plan development, we are holding five workshops across the region to seek input and insights from business, Māori and key stakeholders. These workshops will seek to fully understand the opportunities identified in the Bay of Plenty Regional Growth Study; help determine the logical order of focus; identify the people and organisations to be involved; and directly contribute to the required actions.

These workshop details are as follows:
Taupo 15 June 9am – 11am, Dixie Browns (upstairs), 38 Roberts St, Taupo
Eastern Bay of Plenty 17 June 10am – 12.30pm, Tūhoe HQ, Te Uru Taumatua, Tāneatua
Western Bay of Plenty 18 June 10am – 12.30pm, Club Mount Maunganui
He Mauri Ohooho hui 19 June 9am – 12pm, Te Papaiouru Marae, Ohinemutu, Rotorua
Rotorua 22 June 10am – 12pm, Rotorua Energy Events Centre

The RGS is based on opportunities, not geography, so if you cannot make your local workshop, please feel free to attend a workshop at another location. This will also reinforce the regional collaboration that is involved in this programme.
If you would like to attend one of these workshops, please email info@bayofconnections.com for further information.

Horticulture Discussions
An immediate outcome of the Regional Growth Study launch is a project being developed that builds on the implications identified in the Study for the horticulture sector. This has a focus on growing kiwifruit production using an expanded representation and governance structure designed to reach both existing, and potential, growers to encourage greenfield developments.  Industry projects are already underway designed to increase skilled labour for horticulture and increase the awareness of horticulture in local colleges.

There is a lot happening in a very short period of time, and it is extremely exciting seeing the region, industry, local and central government pulling together with the Bay of Connections to ensure we make the most of the opportunity we have been given.
