News: Appointment of Michael Barnett to Toi EDA Board

The Eastern Bay of Plenty Economic Development Agency, Toi-EDA, is pleased to announce that Michael Barnett will join the Toi-EDA Board as the representative of the Eastern Bay of Plenty Chamber of Commerce.

Michael Barnett is Chief Executive of the Auckland Regional Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and a Director of both the Auckland Chamber and NZ Chambers of Commerce.

Mr Barnett was nominated for the position by the Eastern Bay Chamber of Commerce and President Chris Power was pleased that he had accepted the nomination.

“Michael brings to the table an incredible level of expertise that will provide real value to Toi-EDA. He has strong connections, key partners and stakeholders in business and economic communities and strong links with central government and export markets. He also has experience with other economic development agencies and is currently on the Grow Rotorua Board.

“So while he is not a local to the eastern Bay of Plenty, his depth of skills and experience will be a great addition to Toi EDA Board. We are really supportive of the direction that Toi is taking and look forward to seeing Michael add to that,” Mr Power said.

Michael Barnett replaces Bronwen Foxx who has represented the Chamber on the Toi-EDA Board for more than three years.

Toi EDA Chairman, Sir Michael Cullen acknowledged Bronwen’s significant contribution to the governance of the organisation over that time.

“Bronwen has made a huge contribution to the Toi Board over the last few years and her presence around the table will be missed,” Sir Michael said.
