Jeremy Gardiner - Chairman

Jeremy Gardiner is chief executive of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Awa, an iwi authority representing about 15,000 descendants of Ngāti Awa. Ngāti Awa’s rohe (tribal area) is located in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, Aotearoa/New Zealand. The Rūnanga has responsibility for progressing the economic, cultural, social, political and environmental interests of Ngāti Awa.

Jeremy has been chief executive since 2006 and was involved in the establishment of the current rūnanga structure.  He has had a range of roles in public and private sector including the development of a new governance model for Maori, communications consultant and working on preparations for Y2K in London’s investment banking industry.
