Toi-EDA has a new chairman - Jeremy Gardiner, who has been a trustee of the Eastern Bay of Plenty Economic Development Agency since 2007.
Appointed to the position in June, Mr Gardiner is currently chief executive of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Awa, an iwi authority representing around 15,000 descendants of Ngāti Awa. Ngāti Awa’s rohe (tribal area) is located in heart of Toi-EDA’s area in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
Jeremy has been chief executive of the Rūnanga since 2006. Before that he had a range of roles in public and private sector including the development of a new governance model for Maori, communications consultant and working on Y2K preparation in London’s investment banking industry.
"The Eastern Bay of Plenty has the potential to be the most productive region in New Zealand. The unique mix of sea, land and bush provides great potential for growing the region's economy," Mr Gardiner said.
"Harnessing that potential is our challenge."
