Toi EDA Announced As A Local Partner For The Government’s $25 Million Support Package

At Toi EDA we are honoured to be a local partner delivering support to businesses in our region following the $25 million package that has been announced for businesses impacted by Cyclone Gabrielle. This support package is focused on helping businesses maintain cash flow and position themselves for a successful recovery, with grants of up to $40,000 available to eligible businesses.

Farmers and growers can apply for separate support from the Ministry for Primary Industries.

Below we have outlined who can apply and how you can apply for finding if you business has been affected. The full press release is also linked here.

What The Grants Are For

You can apply for a grant to help you keep operating and position you for a successful recovery.

Who Can Apply

You must meet the following criteria, including being in one of the seven regions, and how you have been affected.You can apply if you are self-employed, a sole trader, or an employer of up to 50 fulltime equivalent employees (FTE).

Location Criteria

If your business is primarily located in the Bay of Plenty, read on for criteria and the application process through Toi EDA. If your business is based outside of the Bay of Plenty where a local State of Emergency was declared and you were affected by Cyclone Gabrielle or January flooding, see below for the relevant regional entity to contact.

You must also meet all these criteria:

  • You’re facing significant cashflow issues due to continued challenges with customer access, ability to source stock, supply chain issues, inability to operate as usual due to the physical damage to equipment or premises, or delays in insurance assessment and repairs.

  • Your business is otherwise viable both before and after the flooding.

  • You are not receiving any funding from the Ministry for Primary Industries recovery fund.

  • You commit to acting in line with employment law and with due regard to your employees.

  • Further criteria may apply, this page will be updated in the event of additional criteria to consider

When To Apply:

We are currently setting up our application system and will let you know as soon as this is operational.

In preparation, we recommend gathering key information about your business such as name, location, nature of business, number of staff, and also information about how cyclone or flooding has impacted your business.

Support for farmers and growers

Farmers, growers and whenua Māori owners can apply for support from the Ministry for Primary Industries to get back on their feet. Please note you cannot also apply for a grant from the cyclone and flooding recovery fund.
