Eastern Bay of Plenty Success At National Aquabots Competition

NZ Aquabots

Toi EDA are thrilled to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Whakatāne High School Aquabots Team for their outstanding performance at the recent NZ AquaBots National Finals, where they were awarded the prestigious bronze medal.

Organised by the Ministry of Inspiration, NZ AquaBots is New Zealand's first ever underwater robotics program tailored for school-aged children. This groundbreaking initiative aims to nurture students' engineering acumen while fostering critical skills in problem-solving, teamwork, scientific communication, and technical applications.

The Aquabots competition involves designing and building underwater robots, providing students with hands-on experience in naval architecture and marine engineering principles. Throughout the program, participants delve into basic science, electrical concepts, tool safety, and technical procedures, gaining a holistic understanding of STEM-related fields.

Another aspect that sets NZ AquaBots apart is its annual theme, which mirrors contemporary events in Aotearoa and the world. This approach ensures that students not only engage with STEM subjects but also stay informed about current affairs, enhancing their knowledge and awareness.

Toi EDA, with generous support from BayTrust, is proud to be a supporter of students participating in this enriching program. Initiatives like NZ AquaBots play a pivotal role in encouraging young minds to explore STEM skills in a captivating and competitive environment.

As advocates for education and innovation, we congratulate the Whakatāne High School Aquabots for their remarkable achievement and commend all participants for their dedication and enthusiasm. This success is not only a testament to their hard work but also an inspiration for budding scientists, engineers, and innovators across the Bay of Plenty region. Here's to the future leaders of STEM!
