TOI EDA DRIVER OPERATOR TRAINING: BUILDING CAPABILITY ACROSS THE REGION

In the first two years since the Driver Operator Training unit was established in 2019, we successfully put through 349 students across a range of courses.

In 2021 we changed from a fixed venue to a regional delivery model. Operating under the new model, we have delivered truck licence courses in Whakatane, Kawerau and Minginui, and a WTR course in Edgecumbe.  Working alongside social service providers and employers, we have placed the majority of graduates into sustainable employment.

Recent engagements have seen us work collaboratively with iwi and training partners to develop licence roadmaps to help their staff study and pass their car licences and move onto truck licences and endorsements.
